Happy Independence Day!

Happy weekend!! This is the weekend I wait for all year long. Sparklers, friends, barbecues, fireworks - it's the best! So in case you haven't decided exactly where you will be viewing said wonders, I thought I'd toss a few ideas your way. Ready?

The Park Hill Parade is a favorite. Think small town vibe, cheering local heroes with all your neighbors alongside. Bonus, they throw candy.

For a more sophisticated take, check out the Colorado Symphony Orchestra at Fiddler's Green. Tickets start at just $17. Now that's a whole lot of bang for your buck (yes, pun intended).

If you're searching for what their is to do is Highlands Ranch and the local firework displays, click here.

Oh and FYI, First Friday Art Walk at the Santa Fe Art District is still proceeding as planned. Enjoy some free wine as a prelude to the big show afterward.

For post-fourth entertainment,

Kick off movies in the park and watch a free showing of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in Skyline Park on the 6th, off 17th and Broadway. Don't forget to pack sweet treats!

All weekend long, get lost at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival - a local favorite of many years past.

Do as I would and hold a small, impromptu soiree in the backyard. Don't forget the citronella candles and lemon oil as the misquitoes are intense this year!

Almost equally important is having the perfect drink to enjoy and share with friends. And this one is SO easy! I promise, you'll love it.

Agave Margarita

  • Kosher salt
  • 2 lime slices or wedges
  • 1/4 cup tequila blanco
  • 2 tablespoons agave syrup (nectar)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

Pour some kosher salt into a small dish. Rub 1 lime slice over half the rim of an Old Fashioned glass (if you prefer your Margarita on the rocks) or a coupe glass (if you prefer it up). Dip rim of glass into salt.

Combine tequila, agave syrup, and juice in a cocktail shaker; fill with ice and shake well. Strain into prepared glass. Garnish with second lime slice.

I love it when the most difficult choices I have to make are between a glass of wine in a gallery or a margarita in the backyard! Any place laughing and enjoying all of my favorite people is always the perfect place. I am wishing all of you beautiful people the same joyous relaxation for this gorgeous weekend ahead.

Happy Independence Day!
